Mothers' Day
A short drive in the streets of Beirut these days, ahead of Mothers' day, most advertisements send these not so subliminal messages: Mom, there you go: now you can cook, clean, and get fitter.
And I thought that capitalist advertisers were out to deprive people of their uniqueness and individuality! I thought that their motives were mainly driven by an abstracted impulse for gain, striving to mystify and to turn people into no more than rattling shells but, it turns out, their motives are history's most radical and pure — to educate!
My thoughts exactly.
